As the Denver Botanic Gardens prepares for its busiest season, local garden enthusiasts and community members are eagerly anticipating a robust lineup of spring and summer events. The iconic cultural institution has just released its seasonal calendar, featuring everything from the highly anticipated Spring Plant Sale to evening concerts under the stars. With registration dates approaching quickly, staff are encouraging early planning, especially for members who can take advantage of exclusive presale opportunities.

Spring Plant Sale Excitement

The Denver Botanic Gardens has announced its annual Spring Plant Sale, presented by Mountain Safe Exteriors, scheduled for May 9-10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the York Street location. While admission to this gardening event is free, online reservations are mandatory, with member-only shopping available during an exclusive early access hour from 8-9 a.m. each day.

Garden enthusiasts looking for the first pick of the season’s best offerings won’t want to miss the Preview Party on Thursday, May 8, from 4-7:30 p.m., offering the earliest access to this year’s plant selection in a festive atmosphere.

For those wanting to approach their garden planning strategically, the Gardens is offering special Pregame Programs on May 2-3 to help shoppers prepare for the sale. These educational workshops include Japanese Garden Fundamentals, Go Native! Landscapes Made for Colorado, Converting Lawn to Xeriscape, Gardening for Pollinators, and Crops in Pots.

Members should mark their calendars for the staggered presale registration beginning April 23 at 10 a.m. for President’s Circle through Gardens Plus members, continuing April 24 for Friends & Family members, and April 25 for Dual Plus and Individual Plus members, while public registration opens April 28.

Summer Event Highlights

Music lovers can look forward to the return of the popular Summer Concert Series presented by UMB Bank and produced in partnership with Swallow Hill Music. Running from June through August on various dates, these concerts transform the already stunning gardens into an outdoor venue where visitors can enjoy live performances amid beautiful surroundings. Registration for these summer events opens to the public on Monday, April 28 at 10 a.m., with members receiving priority access during their designated presale dates beginning April 23.

Beyond the concert series, the Gardens is offering a diverse array of specialty programs designed to connect visitors with nature in unique ways. Summer Nights events featuring Sunset Yoga and Silent Disco will run on select dates from June through September, providing evening opportunities to experience the gardens in new dimensions.

For those seeking a blend of wellness and cultural experiences, Vinyasa, Violins and Vino sessions (presented by Rancho La Puerta) will occur on select dates from May through September, while traditional Japanese Tea Ceremonies throughout the summer offer moments of mindfulness and cultural appreciation. Bonsai enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Advanced Bonsai Design Performance on Saturday, May 17, from 1-4 p.m., showcasing this ancient horticultural art form.
